Our Feathered Friends
Our poultry are completely free-range with access to the garden and fields during the day ,coming to the back door looking for treats, generally adding colour and life to the garden and entertaining us with their antics. We try to keep a variety of breeds and at the minute we have Khaki Cambell ducks, Cotswold Legbars, Marsh Daisies , Marans, a Copper Maran and a Bluebell. We tried unsuccessfully to brood some Welsommer eggs and will try again next year as their dark terracotta eggs make beautiful addition to the egg basket.
We have, as always, lost a few hens to daylight fox attacks but the saddest loss has been Charlie, our gentle giant of a Buff Orpington cockerel.
